Shimmell
To Compete in World Cup Michigan Golden Gloves Association (MGGA)’s Jordan Shimmell will be embarking on another overseas trip, this time to compete in the World Cup of Petroleum Countries boxing tournament. Shimmell, and other members of Team USA, will be traveling to Russia on December 12 where they will have a short acclimation training camp before the tournament which runs December 17 – 20, 2009 in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The team will leave Russia the next day. The
number one ranked Jordan Shimmell has not fared well against international
opponents in several bouts since he won the 201 pound National Golden
Gloves and U.S. Nationals titles earlier this year. The Grand Rapids
fighter continues to learn from the experience of fighting the best
amateur boxers from other countries in pursuit of his goal of winning
an Olympic medal in 2012. |
