De Leon Falls Short Against Great Britain’s Best
Posted: November 15, 2009

Kronk’s Erick De Leon lost in his first international competition this weekend.

De Leon, 17, lost to Great Britain’s Tom Stalker in the first of two duels between the U.S. and Great Britain being held in England. Great Britain overwhelmingly defeated different American teams three times in the past month.

On Friday, eight bouts were held with the U.S. winning only one. Lenroy Thompson won over Simon Vallily. Of the seven Americans that lost, De Leon’s was the closest at 15-13.

This is the first defeat for De Leon since an August, 2007 loss at Ringside World. Since then, the Kronk boxer has gone on to win more than a handful of national titles including Junior Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves, Junior Olympics, Golden Gloves and PAL.

He is scheduled to fight in one more duel before returning home.
