Darryl Cunningham scored a 4th round TKO over Moline, Illinois' Ted Muller at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Saturday night.

Guy Packer connects with a left to the face of Canada's Andre Gorges in the Canadian's first fight to go the distance.

It was another sold out show for promoters Carlos Llinas International Productions (CLIP) and Ron Remus Productions in this, their fifth straight show at this venue. Most of the crowd including Detroit mayor Ken Cockrel, Jr, were there to cheer on favorite son Cunningham to victory. Cunningham delivered the goods, knocking down Muller in the first and again in the fourth before referee Ron Cunningham halted the contest at 1:25. Cunningham improved to 14-2 (8) while Muller declines to 19-15. Cunningham is a deeply religious man who is actively involved with the Great Faith Ministries in Detroit. When I asked him the source of his improved knock out power, he was quick to credit his strong belief in God as well as his hard training methods. He also views boxing as a forum to help inspire young kids and spread the message of the Gospel. He attracts many from his congregation to his fights including his pastor Bishop Wayne T. Jackson and his wife Dr. Beverly. He hopes to move into super middleweight contender status under the direction of his promoters who he also credits for much of his recent success.

Crowd favorites Rich Power and Alexis Hloros scored first round victories. Heavyweight Power stopped Chris Price at 2:13. Hloros got the ten count on Mike Walthier at 1:12. Power stays undefeated with all 6 wins by KO. Hloros’ win was his ninth straight, improving his record to 10-2-2 (8).

Alexis Hloros on his way to his ninth straight victory, against Mike Walthier in Royal Oak.

Windsor heavyweight Ali "The Bomb" Mansour won the ring entrance of the night award. With music blaring, his entourage made their way through the crowd, waving flags of Ali's native Lebanon, preceded by two ladies dancing and waving huge fans. Undefeated Mansour came through scoring his first KO in three wins by halting Guadalupe Diaz at 1:31. Diaz is now 2-4.

Joel Flores of Muskegon won his pro debut in just :29 of the first round over Dustin Cooley who has now lost all 3 of his fights by first round KO. He could be going for Tyrone Brunson's record in reverse.

Other results:
Frank O'Neal 9-1, (2) majority 4 round decision over Aaron Anderson 0-4. Anderson has been matched extremely tough in his young pro career and is much better than his record would indicate. Lightweights.
Andre Gorges 6-0 (5) UD 4 over Guy Packer 3-22. Packer forces Gorges to go the distance for the first time. Welterweights.
Greg Coverson 2-1 (1) W UD 4 Mike Fitzgerald 0-3. Lightweights.
Travis Walker 30-2-1 (24) TKO 1 over Marvin Hunt 12-23-1. Walker storms back from early knockdown to preserve his fringe heavyweight contender status.
