Monroe’s
Bronco McKart
(51-9-1, 31 KO) had his shot at the NABF Middleweight title snatched
from his grasp again, this time at the hands of Russian Roman Karmazin
(36-3-1), in Inglewood, California.
Saturday’s
fight at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, California was
a unanimous decision against McKart.
The
37-year old boxer lost three bids for the same title since July,
2006. He held the title for a brief four months, after winning it
in August of ’07.
Another
Michigan fighter and a third with a Michigan connection also lost
on the California card.
Lansing’s
Dan “Flawless”
Wallace (9-8-0, 3 KO) lost a UD to David Medina (19-2-0) after
six rounds. The 31-year old Wallace has now lost seven in a row,
his last win coming in August of ’07.
Cleveland’s
Willie Nelson (10-0-1, 6 KO) left the ring Saturday night without
a win for the first time in his young professional career.
Nelson,
who is managed by Lansing’s Freddy De la Cruz, was handed
his first draw in his fight with Antonio Johnson (7-0-0). Judges
scored the bout 58-56, 55-59 and 57-57. Nelson, 21, fought six times
in 2008 and turned pro in mid-2006 after an impressive amateur career.
Three of his pro fights - in 2007 and 2008 – took place in
Michigan: Two in Lansing and one in Dearborn.
