IBO and NABO champion Johnathon Banks made a scheduled appearance at the Applebees Neighborhood Bar & Grill in Southgate, a suburb ten minutes south of Detroit, on Thursday to sign autographs.

Restaurant staffers said the event was exciting and manager Shirley Young reported that about seventy-five 5”x7” photographs of Banks were autographed by the two-time champ during the scheduled two hour event, which was organized by Applebees General Manager Mario Troussaint. “It went really, really well,” Young told Sportssummary.

Banks’ memorabilia was also added to a section of wall in the popular chain restaurant, beside neighboring Taylor native Steve Avery #33 of the Atlanta Braves (and Taylor’s JFK high school Eagles #11). A pair of Banks’ gold shorts and an autographed black glove are included in the permanent display at the Downriver location, located at 13855 Eureka Road.

The undefeated 26-year old Kronk fighter won the IBO cruiserweight title this past July and the WBO’s NABO championship two years earlier.
