Wins Silver at PALs

The national Police Athletic League (PAL) Championships were held
last week and a silver medal came home to Michigan. The 33rd annual
event was held at the Oxnard, California PAL gym with more than
300 boxers participating from 27 states.
Kronk
amateur J’Leon Love won three matches – two by decisions
and one stoppage – before losing by two points in the finals
on Saturday earning his second national silver medal.

This
was Love’s first appearance at PALs and his second national
competition, excluding Ringside World, since beginning the sport
less than two years ago. His opponent, Denis Douglin of Morganville,
NJ, was a quarter-finalist at last year’s PAL.
Love,
who just turned 20-years old, also won a silver medal at the U.S.
Championships in May and represented the U.S. last month at the
Golden Belt tournament in Romania.
Other
Kronk boxers Domonique Dolton, LeAndre White and Craig Lewis also
competed but lost in the quarters or earlier and Muskegon Area Boxing
Club (MABC)’s Joel Flores lost in the quarter-finals of the
Junior Division. Flores' brother, Federico, along with Javonn Barnes
and Adrian Castanon. attended in 2006 but were not award winners.
